HFP Racing has partnered with the Ariel-Foundation Park and the City of Mount Vernon to bring this exciting new race to the HFP Racing schedule. You will be swimming in the calm and clear waters of Central Lake and then biking on the Ohio to Erie bike trail and the rolling hills in Knox County. The race finishes with a beautiful running tour of Ariel-Foundation Park. After the race take on the challenge of climbing the 280’ Rastin Observation Tower before heading into downtown Mount Vernon for lunch at the many options from Amato’s Wood Fired Pizza to the best Italian around at MAZZA’s Italian Restaurant.

All finishers will receive a handsome finisher medal and the top three in each division will receive custom awards (including relay teams).
For those who prefer to race one element of the triathlon or duathlon we offer a relay division for our sprint and Olympic distance triathlons and duathlons. Relay teams consist of three (3) members (1 swimmer, 1 biker, 1 runner), each member will complete one segment of the race (2 members for duathlon teams). Each team member will exchange their timing chip bracelet at their assigned bike rack. There are NO age groups in this division.
HFP Racing’s Signature Events are events that highlight the HFP schedule each year and many of these events play a role on the National and Regional schedule.

The mini distance triathlon will start off with a clockwise 250 yard triangle swim course (water depth is over 6 feet the entire swim) in Central Lake while duathletes take on a flat and scenic 2 mile run around East Lake and along Central Lake, followed by a flat to gently rolling 7 mile bike course on the Ohio to Erie bike trail and Knox County country roads. The race finishes with a spectacular 2 mile run through the Ariel-Foundation Park before a grand finish next to the Park National Bank pavilion.

The sprint distance triathlon will start off with a clockwise 750 meter rectangle swim course in Central Lake while duathletes take on a flat and scenic 5k run around East Lake and along Central Lake, followed by a flat to gently rolling 21k bike course on the Ohio to Erie bike trail and Knox County country roads. The race finishes with a spectacular 5k run through the Ariel-Foundation Park before a grand finish next to the Park National Bank pavilion.

The Olympic distance triathlon will start off with a clockwise 1500 meter rectangle swim course in Central Lake while duathletes take on a flat and scenic 5k run around East Lake and along Central Lake, followed by a flat to gently rolling 2-lap 38k bike course on the Ohio to Erie bike trail and Knox County country roads. The race finishes with a spectacular 2-lap 10k run through the Ariel-Foundation Park before a grand finish next to the Park National Bank pavilion.
