2021 HFP RACING TRIATHLONS

HARVEST SUNRISE TRIATHLON AND DUATHLON at ALUM CREEK STATE PARK

August 29, 2021

The event takes place at Alum Creek State Park in Delaware County (about 30 minutes North of Columbus, OH) and features a mostly flat and fast course on the bike. Triathletes will be swimming a rectangular course along the beach while duathletes will start their race with a run within the park. The bike course take place on the roads surrounding Alum Creek Reservoir. The races finish with an out and back run course atop the Alum Creek Dam.

AWARDS

All finishers will receive a handsome finisher medal and the top finisher in each division will receive  a commemorative award (including relay teams).

  • Mini Triathlon: 250y Swim – 13 mi Bike – 2mi Run
  • Mini Duathlon: 2mi Run – 13 mi Bike – 2mi Run
  • Sprint Triathlon: 750m Swim – 13 mi Bike – 5k Run
  • Sprint Duathlon: 5k Run – 13 mi Bike – 5k Run
  • Olympic Triathlon: 1500m Swim – 25 mi Bike – 10k Run
  • Olympic Duathlon: 5k Run – 25 mi Bike – 10k Run

 

Note: For Mini-distance, the bike course will be 13 miles. No turnaround that would allow for an out-n-back course is allowed under our permit due to traffic control and safety consideration.

Relays

For those who prefer to race one element of the triathlon or duathlon we offer a relay division for our sprint and Olympic distance triathlons and duathlons. Relay teams consist of three (3) members (1 swimmer, 1 biker, 1 runner), each member will complete one segment of the race (2 members for duathlon teams).  Each team member will exchange their timing chip bracelet at their assigned bike rack. There are NO age groups in this division.

* Prices above reflect cost for USAT Annual Members and all participants MUST have a valid USAT license (annual or one-day).
If you are not a USAT member, adults may purchase a one-day membership for the event at $15 or an annual membership for $50. Youth (17 & under) may purchase an annual membership for $10.


REGISTRATION NOTES
  • Registration fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.
  • Fees listed above do not include the online TriRegistration processing fee.
  • There is NO RACE DAY REGISTRATION.
  • USA Triathlon Rule 3.2a. All age group athletes must participate and compete in the age group division corresponding to the athlete’s age on December 31 of the year of the event.
  • If using a discount or sale code, only one code can be used per transaction.

RACE PACKETS

Official Race T-shirt (if registered at least 20 days prior to event date), Goodie Bag, Post Race Food & Beverages, and ALL finishers will receive a handsome Finishers Medal (including all relay team members).

MINI TRIATHLON & DUATHLON

The mini distance triathlon will start off with a clockwise 250 yard triangle swim course (water depth is 4- 6 feet the entire swim) in Alum Creek Lake while duathletes take on a flat and scenic 2 mile run from the beach out across the Alum Creek Dam followed by a flat to gently rolling 13 mile bike course around the Alum Creek Reservoir which feature a nice hill from below the dam to the park entrance. The race finishes with a spectacular 2 mile run on the trail from Alum Creek beach to across the Alum Creek Dam and back.

SPRINT TRIATHLON & DUATHLON

The sprint distance triathlon will start off with a clockwise 750 yard triangle swim course (water depth is between 4-6 feet the entire swim) in Alum Creek Lake while duathletes take on a flat and scenic 2 mile run from the beach out across the Alum Creek Dam. The swim and the duathlon 1st run is followed by a flat to gently rolling 13 mile bike course around the Alum Creek Reservoir which feature a nice climatic hill climb from below the dam to the park entrance. The race finishes with a spectacular 3.1 mile run on the trail from Alum Creek beach to across the Alum Creek Dam and back.

OLYMPIC TRIATHLON & DUATHLON

The Olympic distance triathlon will start off with a clockwise 1500 rectangular swim course (water depth is 4- 6 feet the entire swim) in Alum Creek Lake while duathletes take on a flat and scenic 3.1 mile run from the beach out across the Alum Creek Dam. The swim and duathlon 1st run is followed by a flat to gently rolling 13 mile bike course around the Alum Creek Reservoir which feature a nice hill from below the dam to the park entrance.  After the 1st lap, Olympic-distance athletes will re-enter the park and ride to the designated turnaround point and re-exit the park to complete another bike loop. After completion of the 2nd lap, athletes will enter transition to start their run.  The race finishes with a spectacular 2-lap 10K run on the trail from Alum Creek beach to across the Alum Creek Dam and back.

Alum Creek State Park

Located near Ohio’s capital city, Alum Creek State Park is a popular boating and camping destination. Visitors can spend the day jet skiing across thousands of acres of water or find a quiet cove to fish or paddle. Perfect for swimming and sunning, the beach is the largest inland beach in the park system. The park’s large campground also offers a camp store, boating access, and a nature center for campers. Visitors with children can try the family-friendly mountain bike trail or the half-mile Storybook Trail.
