The fourth stop of the FIT Family Series goes due North to Vermilion, Ohio along the shoreline of Lake Erie at Sherod Park. This unique venue gives triathletes a testing swim in the cold waters of Lake Erie, followed by beautiful country roads for the bike courses and finishing with a run through historic downtown Vermilion showcasing why Vermilion is nicknamed Harbour Town.

There is NO RACE DAY REGISTRATION — packet pickup ONLY
All finishers will receive a handsome finisher medal and the top three in each division will receive custom awards (including relay teams).
For those who prefer to race one element of the triathlon or duathlon we offer a relay division for our sprint and Olympic distance triathlons and duathlons. Relay teams consist of three (3) members (1 swimmer, 1 biker, 1 runner), each member will complete one segment of the race (2 members for duathlon teams). Each team member will exchange their timing chip bracelet at their assigned bike rack. There are NO age groups in this division.

The Kidz Splash N Dash starts off with either a 150 meter (10 & under) or 300 meter (11-15) out and back swim in Lake Erie, followed by a required transition into running shoes, then participants will take on either a 1k (10 & under) or a 2k (11-15) out and back run on the mulch trail within Sherrod Park.

The mini distance triathlon will start off with a 250 yard out and back swim (in mostly waist deep water along the beach) in Lake Erie, followed by a 7 mile out and back bike course through the countryside and finishing with 2 mile out and back run in downtown Vermilion and back to the park. Duathletes will start off with a 2 mile run.

The sprint distance triathlon features a 750 meter clockwise triangle swim in Lake Erie, while the duathletes are running an out & back 5k into downtown Vermilion, followed by a single loop 21k bike course through the gently rolling countryside surrounding the park and finishing with an out & back 5k run into downtown Vermilion and back to the park.

The Olympic distance triathlon features a 1500 meter clockwise triangle swim in Lake Erie, while the duathletes are running an out & back 5k into downtown Vermilion, followed by a single loop 40k bike course through the gently rolling countryside surrounding the park and finishing with an out & back 10 run into downtown Vermilion, the Lagoons, and back to the park.

Located on Lake Erie approximately ¼ of a mile to the west of the city, this park was donated by the Bessie Sherod Family — a founding family of Vermilion. Featuring green space, trees, natural areas and beaches, Sherod overlooks the breathtaking Lake Erie. This park boasts 2 ball diamonds, 2 picnic shelters, 2 playgrounds, a soccer field and a walking track.
