RACE SMART. RACE SAFE. RACE FAIR!
All HFP Racing multisport events are sanctioned by USA Triathlon (USAT) and follow applicable USAT competition rules and safety guidelines. Whether you’re a first-time triathlete or an experienced competitor, we encourage all athletes to familiarize themselves with the rules before race day.
KNOW THE RULES BEFORE YOU RACE!
Avoid unnecessary penalties by reviewing USA Triathlon’s competition rules, including common violations involving drafting, equipment, course conduct, and outside assistance.
Review USA Triathlon Rules & Common Violations
When a USAT official is present at an HFP event, the official referee’s report will be posted on the event’s Results Page following the race.

Your racing age is determined by your age on December 31 of the race year — not your age on race day.
HFP Racing follows USA Triathlon’s age-up policy for age group competition and series scoring. Athletes compete in the age group corresponding to their age on December 31 of the current racing year.
Example: Jane is 34 years old throughout the 2027 racing season but turns 35 on December 15, 2027. She will compete in the 35–39 age group for the entire 2027 season.
This policy ensures consistent age group placement throughout the racing season.
High School Division Exception: Athletes competing in the designated High School Division for Super Sprint and Sprint Triathlons will be classified according to the event’s published High School Division eligibility requirements.
Wondering if your race will be wetsuit legal?
All HFP Racing multisport events follow USA Triathlon’s wetsuit regulations. Wetsuit eligibility is determined by the official water temperature recorded on race morning.
We’ll share available water temperature updates approximately 12–24 hours before race day through HFP Racing’s communication channels.
IMPORTANT: The official water temperature and wetsuit eligibility will be confirmed on race morning. Conditions can change, so athletes should come prepared for either a wetsuit-legal or non-wetsuit swim.
KNOW THE RULES. RESPECT YOUR FELLOW ATHLETES. ENJOY THE RACE!

Once racing begins, vehicles parked in the main beach parking area will NOT be permitted to exit until the final cyclist has returned to the park or law enforcement authorizes vehicle movement.

Please use the overflow parking lot, located on the first road to your right after entering the park. This is the recommended parking location for athletes and spectators who may need to leave before the bike course is clear.

HOW TO WEAR YOUR TIMING CHIP
RELAY TEAMS
Relay teammates will exchange their timing chip at their designated bike rack in the transition area.
IMPORTANT — RETURN YOUR TIMING CHIP!
All timing chips must be returned at the finish line following your race.
LOST OR UNRETURNED TIMING CHIPS WILL RESULT IN A $35 REPLACEMENT CHARGE.
If you are unable to complete the race, please report to the timing chip collection area near the finish line, return your chip, and notify race personnel that you are withdrawing.
Do not cross additional timing mats after withdrawing from the race.
The transition area is where athletes move between race segments. Please review these procedures before race morning.
TRANSITION AREA ACCESS & BIKE RACKING
TRANSITION AREA RULES
HELPFUL TIP: Arrive early, organize your gear, identify the Swim In, Bike Out, Bike In, and Run Out locations, and familiarize yourself with the transition layout before your race begins.

Aquabike athletes will follow the event’s designated Aquabike finish procedure.
Know Your Course. Follow the Signs. Enjoy Your Finish!
WATER TEMPERATURE
We know two of the biggest questions before race day are: What’s the water temperature? and Will wetsuits be allowed?
HFP Racing will share a preliminary water temperature update approximately 12–24 hours before the event through our race communications channels.
The official race morning water temperature will be measured approximately 60–90 minutes before the first swim start by the Race Director or designated USA Triathlon official.
SWIM CAPS
All Triathlon and Aquabike participants will receive an official race swim cap that must be worn during the swim portion of the event.
Standard race swim caps are latex. If you have a latex allergy, please contact customerservice@hfpracing.com in advance. Silicone swim caps are available upon request.
WETSUIT RULES
HFP Racing follows USA Triathlon wetsuit regulations.
IMPORTANT: The official race morning water temperature determines wetsuit eligibility. Athletes should be prepared for either wetsuit-legal or non-wetsuit conditions.
Review your course maps, arrive early, bring your photo ID, and come ready for an incredible race experience.
BE PREPARED. RACE SMART. HAVE FUN.
