DEER CREEK STATE PARK

June 9-10, 2018

This venue offers courses that are mostly flat and fast with some rolling hills on the bike. Triathletes will be swimming along the beach in Deer Creek Lake. Duathlete’s opening run is out and back featuring a run across the Deer Creek dam levy. So, don’t forget your cross country legs. The bike courses are on mostly local country roads. The races finish with an out and back run that crosses the Deer Creek dam levy and heads onto a local country road. The run course is almost completely flat but does require extra effort when crossing the grass-covered levy. This race is a perfect “first race of the season” to get you ready for an exciting season of racing.

  • USA Triathlon Rule 3.2a. All age group athletes must participate and compete in the age group division corresponding to the athlete’s age on December 31 of the year of the event.
  • If using a discount or sale code, only one code can be used per transaction.

  • Clydesdale — Males racing weight groups in two age groups:

  *The elite divisions are only for the sprint and Olympic distance triathlon or duathlon participants. Those competing in these divisions are not eligible for age group awards.

COURSE MAPS

KIDZ TRIATHLON & DUATHLON

Race weekend kicks off with this super fun event that offers kids up to 15 years old a fun swimming, biking and running event. What kid does not like to swim, bike and run? The Kidz Triathlon & Duathlon features kid-friendly point-to-point swim courses (or opening runs for duathletes) in waist deep water along the beach, followed by either a 5k or 10k bike course and finishing with a cross-country run within the park. Children racing must be able to swim the course without a life jacket and ride the bike course on a bike without training wheels. Parents/siblings/friends are not allowed to swim/ride/run alongside the kids during the race at any time.

MINI TRIATHLON & DUATHLON

The mini distance triathlon will start off with a 250 yard point-to-point swim (in waist deep water along the beach), followed by a 7 mile loop course through the countryside and finishing with 2 mile out and back run across the Deer Creek dam levy. Duathletes will start off with a 2 mile run.

SPRINT TRIATHLON & DUATHLON

The sprint distance triathlon features a 750 meter counter clockwise rectangle swim along the beach, while the duathletes are running an out & back 5k across the Deer Creek dam levy, followed by a single loop 20k bike course through the countryside surrounding the park and finishing with an out & back 5k run that crosses the Deer Creek dam levy before returning for a grand finish at the park.

OLYMPIC TRIATHLON & DUATHLON

The Olympic distance triathlon features a 1500 meter 2-lap counter clockwise rectangle swim along the beach, while the duathletes are running an out & back 5k across the Deer Creek dam levy, followed by a single loop 40k bike course through the countryside surrounding the park and finishing with an out & back 10k run that crosses the Deer Creek dam levy and onto Deer Creek Road to the turnaround before returning for a grand finish at the park.
